From grassroots workshops to support for anti-racist medical curricula, every offering is grounded in care and co-creation.
Health Equity Program
"We begin by establishing connections with organizations, communities, and individuals."
Bridge to Equity Foundation’s Health Equity Program is designed to address and dismantle the systemic barriers that lead to unequal health outcomes in historically marginalized communities. We focus on empowering individuals and families through education, advocacy, and direct community engagement.
Our program works at the intersection of public health, social justice, and community resilience. Through workshops, resource hubs, and grassroots campaigns, we aim to:
Increase awareness of health disparities affecting Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and rural populations
Educate community members on their rights within healthcare systems
Custom workshops and faculty development sessions
Equip healthcare providers and students with structural competency tools
Guest lectures for classrooms, conferences, and training institutes
Long-term consulting partnerships for curriculum redesign Tools
Advocate for policy reforms that improve access to care and cultural responsiveness.
Partner with local organizations to expand access to preventative services, screenings, and mental health resources
This program is founded on the principle that health is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right. We are committed to building healthier communities by removing the barriers that prevent people from living whole, well-supported lives.
Future Internship Opportunity
We are expanding our Health Equity Internship Program to support one student per semester, starting in Spring 2026. Interns will work on community-based research, educational outreach, or content development. We plan to offer a $500 stipend per intern, contingent on available funding. Applications will open soon through our Get Involved page.
This initiative will support one intern per semester who works on community research, curriculum development projects, or digital advocacy initiatives. Interested? Visit our Get Involved page to apply.

Culturally responsive curriculum design
Faculty training and equity audits
Inclusive pedagogical frameworks
Anti-racism and health justice modules
Evaluation and feedback tools for continuous improvement
Rooted in research and real-world experience, our consulting approach is collaborative and tailored to the specific needs of your organization. We ensure that your educational offerings not only meet current standards but also empower learners to think critically, lead ethically, and serve communities with dignity and care.
Mentorship, Transition Program
“Preparedness Program” – Supporting first-gen med/grad students
Choosing to become a healthcare provider is one of the most meaningful decisions a person can make. Still, for many students of color, first-generation college graduates, and those without medical professionals in their family, the journey can also feel isolating and overwhelming.
The culture of medicine and graduate education is often unwelcoming, the financial burden is steep, and the pressure to succeed can take a profound toll on mental health. Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among U.S. healthcare professionals.
That’s why Bridge to Equity is launching the Preparedness Program — a mentorship and transition initiative designed to support students entering graduate, medical, nursing, and public health programs.
Through this program, we offer:
One-on-one mentorship from healthcare professionals and educators
Peer support networks and wellness check-ins
Guidance on academic readiness, financial planning, and time management
Workshops on navigating imposter syndrome, clinical culture, and self-advocacy
Whether you’re the first in your family or the only one in your class who looks like you, you are not alone.
We’re here to walk with you, from acceptance letter to white coat and beyond.
Our Community Health Education Program is designed to meet people where they are — both literally and culturally — with a special focus on underserved communities across the Southern United States. From rural counties to urban neighborhoods, we partner with local clinics, libraries, churches, doulas, and grassroots organizations to offer trusted, relevant health education that empowers individuals and strengthens local care systems.
Each session is led by culturally responsive educators, public health professionals, and community members with lived experience who reflect the identities, languages, and realities of the populations we serve.
We also hope to collaborate with private practice physicians, nurse practitioners, and small clinics who are overextended but deeply committed to patient care. Our workshops and support tools can serve as an extension of your practice, providing your patients with the education, navigation support, and empowerment they need outside of limited visit windows.
Topics may include:
How to prepare for a doctor’s visit and advocate for your needs
Understanding reproductive health options and birth rights
What is a doula? How to build your birth team
Chronic illness, fatigue, and stress in Black and brown communities
Patient empowerment: asking questions, getting second opinions
Nutrition, movement, and mental wellness—on your terms
Navigating Medicaid, rural clinics, and healthcare deserts
Building trust in healthcare and practicing trauma-informed care
Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, clinic, or community leader, we’re ready to partner with you to bring health equity education into spaces where it can genuinely make a difference.
"Research that Reflects, Respects, and Responds to the People It’s About"
At Bridge to Equity Foundation, we believe research should do more than sit in journals — it should change lives. Our Community-Rooted Research Program is grounded in the belief that health equity starts with asking the right questions and including the right voices.
We design and lead research projects that center lived experience, practical impact, and justice, with a special focus on healthcare access, reproductive justice, structural racism in medicine, rural innovation, and medical education reform.
We are actively seeking collaborators — including prominent data researchers, epidemiologists, public health professionals, and legal advocates — to help us expand our work, co-write community-centered studies, and translate data into actionable legislation. Together, we aim to demonstrate the real-world impact of health policies and systemic inequities on Southern and marginalized populations.
Participatory – We collaborate with communities, not just “study” them
Narrative-informed – We elevate real stories alongside statistics
Actionable – Our work informs toolkits, curricula, and programming
Accessible – We publish in both academic journals and public blogs
Intersectional – We ask questions about race, gender, class, region, and history
Barriers to care in rural Southern states
Maternal health disparities & community birth
The epistemology of race in medical education
Student experiences in health education pipelines
LGBTQ+ access to culturally affirming providers
Black-led doula and midwifery care as community safety
Youth and reproductive justice
Research should be rooted in the community, shaped by experience, and leveraged for change. If you're a researcher, health advocate, or policymaker seeking collaboration, we’d be delighted to work with you.
Let’s build the data that drives equity.
